My sister, her family, and I visited Germany last summer, and we landed in Amsterdam because it was a closer drive to my brother-in-law’s town in Germany than landing in Düsseldorf. I decided to stay behind in the Netherlands for one day and meet up with the family the next day. I reached out to Nienke on Instagram (we became friends via Lauren Hom’s #homwork challenges) and asked her if she could show me a little bit of the Netherlands!

During our hangout, we took fun photos of her and Elwin! They told me that the Netherlands normally doesn’t get very hot, but on this day, the sun was just shining! We all sweated a little and cooled ourselves with a drink or two. I did the very Dutch thing by sitting on the back of Nienke’s bike as she took me throughout the town. That was definitely a highlight of my Europe trip. Big shoutouts to Nienke for taking me on the back of her bike!!
