From the moment you meet Vy and Cal, you immediately feel their genuine warmth and kindness. Their love story is a beautiful testament to modern romance meeting global connection. Vy hails from Australia, while Cal is a proud native New Yorker. Despite growing up on opposite sides of the world, the universe, and a wonderful dating app, brought them together right in the heart of Brooklyn, New York. Their engagement session took us from sunrise in Central Park to sunset in DUMBO, two of the most iconic spots for Brooklyn engagement photos.

As a Bay Area wedding photographer who travels for love, I was thrilled to capture their engagement session in the city that brought them together (and to also explore New York!).

Central Park Sunrise Engagement Photos

To truly experience the magic of Manhattan without the crowds, we kicked off their session in Central Park at the iconic Bethesda Fountain, with the Angel of the Waters statue watching over us. We met bright and early—we’re talking 6:00 AM to 7:00 AM! This dedicated effort meant we could truly focus on the intimate experience, capturing their connection in the soft, morning light before the city awoke. As we wandered through the park, we made our way past the Central Park Carousel and captured a few moments with the San Remo rising in the background. Avoiding the crowds allowed their personalities to shine through, resulting in fun and candid photos.

After soaking up the quiet beauty of the park, what's more New York than grabbing a slice? We refueled with an essential quick bite at the legendary Joe’s Pizza, adding a fun, authentic local flavor to their story.

DUMBO Sunset Engagement Photos

Our New York adventure continued as we journeyed over to DUMBO (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass). This location is a favorite for any New York wedding photographer, offering unmatched skyline views. We were treated to an absolutely beautiful sunset, painting the sky with colors as we captured romantic moments with the Manhattan Bridge and the city's glittering lights as our backdrop.

We closed out the session by popping a bottle of champagne! We then concluded the best way possible: by sharing a delicious celebratory meal.
